Carly Comando - Everyday

I sit still, back tensed to upright, head held high, conscious only to the air that keeps my heart beating. The seconds slowly tick by as I blink to clear the glaze of blindness from my eyes. Inhaling deeply, I pause for a moment... and then sigh.
I let go. I no longer try. This void has me in its grip. I’m lost to a world of nothingness, to a life of free will. It’s like…It’s like I’m no longer me. It’s like I’m no longer a body of cells, irrelevant, useless, but for the ignorance of society to see what lies within.
My mind is my God, powerful beyond measure, nothing too great to evade kneeling before his kingdom.
Contradictory in everyway to that world in which we slave away. It’s my getaway. The world where one can’t say no way! A place where there is no such thing as everyday. Today is today, tomorrow…that’s a different day, it’s not just another day. Tomorrow is a day where the sky is a different colour, the wind sings a different song, the world is a little older, and the stars a little closer. Tomorrow is a day unlike yesterday. It’s like a new void, a new empty space of time, a new opportunity, a new possibility to fly like a kite or to just kick back and relax with someone nice. Within your void, nothing is beyond reach…the world is your oyster.
You see, in letting go you gain everything. In creating a void you can see more clearly, free from interference, free from the bright lights that hinder your vision, or in many cases, free from the dark nights that corrupt the innocence of your feeble mind. In creating a void you put yourself in control.
In creating a void you set the rhythm of your life... from the mellow bass of a cello to the raging crash of a cymbal. You are the one man orchestra capable of playing a symphony so intricate, Beethoven would have been proud.
You are the composer in chief and you are the conductor of this band.
You are the audience to whom you play and entertain.
You are the one upon whom every note nourishes a part of your soul.
[Listen]
Is that a free spirit?
Is that a free mind?
[Listen]
With a slap across the face we will awake to the sound of everyday.
The lights will hinder our clear vision and the darkness will cloud our minds,
but the void in which we may escape is never too far away!
